In June and July 2010, Children's Fund CEO Dr. Sherlie
Scribner traveled to Cameroon with her son, Michael Svestka, a medical
student at Eastern Virginia Medical College in Norfolk, Virginia. They visited
sites where Children's Fund has supported education in the northwestern and
western regions of the country, and they visited hospitals and clinics and
brought medical supplies. The videos show how the mountain village of Djottin
welcomed them. They were the first Americans to visit this location, and the
chief honored them with royal titles. Michael was made a "Shey" which is a
nobleman, and Sherlie was made a "Bwindi" which is the highest rank ever
bestowed on a foreigner.
